It’s usually in the Spring when I spend an unbelievable amount of time daydreaming about where I would like to be going on my summer holidays.
So, when I came across Villa Pia set in the breathtaking Tuscan countryside, my wanderlust has since gone into overdrive: Not only is it in one of my favourite regions where the food and wine is second to none, but Villa Pia has superb luxurious facilities for families and children. This certainly makes for a winning combination – especially when the English owners want the whole family to have a relaxing holiday.
Imagine lounging on Villa Pia’s sun terraces and taking in the stunning hillside views, while your little ones are being entertained in the sand pit or in the nearby woods? If the weather’s too hot why not take a dip in their child-friendly swimming pool?
Villa Pia is a 15th-century Italian manor house situated in a small village of Lippiano, Italy. The large, rustic house plus converted barn and stables provide 17 family bedrooms with private bathrooms. And, while each room is unique, retaining original and traditional features and furnishings, they are all big enough for families to share – plus several are also interconnecting.
Villa Pia provides all-inclusive meals made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients and prepared by local chefs. Breakfast and lunch are served in the communal dining area and include gorgeous gourmet delights such as pizzas and steaks cooked in wood-fire ovens. For adults dinner is a decadent affair with four courses of deliciousness. And, not forgetting the kids – an early 6.00pm dinner for them means they won’t go hungry. Meanwhile, there is also daily afternoon tea, and fresh fruit, yoghurt, bread, baby puree, tea, coffee, soft drinks and alcohol whenever you like!
Not only do Villa Pia offer an English-speaking babysitting service so that you can have some adult-only time in the evenings, but their on-site activities are there to induce well-being and peacefulness such as Pilates and yoga classes, Italian cookery lessons and beauty treatments including massages, mud wrap, facials, manicures and pedicures.
Well, where do I even begin? Villa Pia’s kids facilities include a child-friendly swimming pool, trampoline, an indoor soft play room, all-weather tennis court and a courtyard play area filled with small climbing frames, slides, toys and ride-ons. They also offer children’s cookery and art classes, and will happily organise excursions to the nearby fairytale castle and farms, as well as cycling, horseriding and hiking trips.
A week at Villa Pia costs from £550 per adult including all meals and drinks; and £240 per child, between the ages of two and 12 years. Children under two are free if sharing a room with their parents.
For these fantastic prices and its wonderful facilities, we at MTM can’t wait to check it out for ourselves in the near future. Would you like to stay at Villa Pia?
