In recent studies, social scientists believe that names produce a Dorian Gray effect – influencing personality, how we’re perceived, and even physical appearance throughout our lives.

But if I was to tell you that your name can reveal a lot about your travel aspirations, would you believe me?

I have a love/hate relationship with my name. While Ting is quite common place in China, growing up here in the UK, my name was often the source of ridicule from teasing children. Regardless, I have quite thick skin, and over the years I’ve learned to take any mockery square on the chin.

As my mother said to me: ‘At least they won’t forget who you are.’ And she’s right.

So what does ‘Ting’ reveal in terms of my next adventure? Well to find out, I’ve popped over to Flight Centre’s fun Travel Name Game and the results are pretty astounding!

Can Your Name Determine Your Next Adventure?

Sydney

The first suggestion is a city I used to live in, and I have very happy memories of my time there. Back in 2002, I arrived in Sydney after backpacking around India and Asia, to live with my now-husband and his friends in an apartment in Surrey Hills.

I used to walk to work through Central Sydney, and we’d often meet on Bondi or Manly Beach to enjoy the last of the day’s sunshine and then head over to Darling Harbour. Good times…

And since my brother-in-law has been living in Australia for the past five years, it is somewhere we all want to return to.
