It makes for sober reading. Recent figures from Action Fraud report that holidaymakers ripped off by booking scams rose by almost a fifth last year. There were 5,826 reported cases in 2016, up 19 per cent on the previous year,
And the most common scams are related to airline tickets and bogus accommodation bookings, with victims losing, on average, around £1,200. While 26 per cent of those affected said the fraud had also had a significant impact on their health or financial well-being.
I don’t know about you, but one of my least favourite parts of going away is the packing. It’s always down to me to make sure that everyone in the family has everything they need, and it literally hurts my head when I have to sift through all our belongings and sort them into huge piles.
One of the main reasons many parents are put off by travelling with young children is the amount of organising and stress associated with all the products and gadgets that are needed to facilitate safe journeys.

I had set my heart on packing our bags as a family of four and flying off into the sunset to spend two weeks exploring Borneo in Malaysia this coming May. This was back last summer when I was looking ahead and thinking we were due a ‘big’ trip. I’d sourced the flights, even chosen the hotels to best utilise our chances of seeing orangutans in the wild.
