Hi, I’m Ting Dalton and welcome to My Travel Monkey.

I’ve led a pretty text-book life: went to school, then university, travelled the world for a few years, got a job in publishing, got married to the love of my life, then had my first son.

But throughout all the trials and tribulations that life has thrown at me, my love of travel has never fizzled out – in fact, the more I see, the more I want to see.

Since having my bundles of joy – Monkey who is now 5, and Peanut, who is just 4 weeks old – my life has changed dramatically but I am determined that having children shouldn’t change the way my husband and I travel – and I’m striving to make sure both my boys get to see as much of the world as possible. Plus, I’m constantly searching for ways to amuse them, and ourselves, without spending the Earth…

I admit that I actually enjoy researching the latest travel deals, hotels and flight options, but it’s a minefield out there, with bits of information floating all over the interweb. Not only would I like to use My Travel Monkey as a tool for documenting all our fantastic adventures at home and abroad, but I would also like to share the information and inspire others out there, who may interested in some of the places we’ve visited and the things we’ve done.

Loving your new (?) header and badge Ting! And having read your About summary I’m kinda jealous that you made it into the wonderful world of magazine publishing – I was trained for that over 20 years ago and at one point in my life sub-editing was my dream job!! Unfortunately I just wasn’t outgoing and confident enough – a bit too much of an introvert to make it happen. Anyway just to say the blog is looking fab! X

Thanks Sam, that means a lot to me. I never realised you trained in journalism. I initially wanted to write for NME… that’s all I wanted to do. I fell into sub-editing as most wannabe writers do. Magazine publishing sounds way more exciting and glamourous that it is… but I’m sorry you didn’t get to do it. You know, it’s never too late? Copy-writers are needed all the time and you could get some freelancing work? x

Thanks for stopping by my blog Ting. I love your blog’s design – particularly the header. Looking forward to sharing experiences and yes, once Monkey is old enough, you must come to SA. The safari and game reserves are awesome.

Your travel monkey is absolutely adorable – and clearly well travelled! My son, Storsh, is 4 yrs old (& well travelled, too — and a quarter Chinese, though he looks more Asian than I do at half!). We’ll be in London for the month of August and then probably moving there for a stint in 2016. If you guys happen to be there & free for a play date at some point would be lovely to meet — or of course in Paris!

So pleased I’ve found your wonderful collection of articles through Kimberly.
    Kind regards,
    Daisy

Hi Daisy, thanks so much for your lovely comment. I was so impressed with the concept of THATlou, and when we go to Paris I will definitely be taking part! Would you believe I’m very well travelled but have not stayed in Paris properly? I went to Gare du Nord and that’s it – so I am due a visit and soon. We live in the outskirts of London, I travel in everyday for my job so it won’t be a problem at all for a play date, that would be lovely to meet you and Storsh. Please keep in touch. Ting

Hey there! I’d like to join in on your Monday Escapes but I don’t get the timing… Every two weeks, alternating with Packing My Suitcase. that part I do get 🙂 But today, Nov 2, the post that you posted has participants’ links from 2 weeks back, ie links for the previous challenge I’m guessing, or not? So… Which post do I link my new post to? Sorry, I’m a bit dense maybe, haha! 🙂 I’m only asking because it seems like lots of fun and your blog looks super awesome! ;p

Hi there, welcome and glad you’d like to join in. The link up goes live every fortnight on a Monday and if you click on the blue button at the bottom of all the thumbnails you can just add a link to any post you want to shout out about. Old or new. So on the Monday Escapes yesterday, just scroll to the bottom and once you’ve done it, you’ll see your thumbnail appear after all the others. Does that make sense?

Love your blog! We are just getting started on the travel part of our Voyage, and it doesn’t involve children (unless you count the hubs), but I figure anyone who can travel all over with a Monkey (a very cute one, by the way) can provide solid travel advice for nearly anyone! I’ll check back often!
